Abstract
Information use pattern is one of the important areas in user studies. The motives of users give rise to information needs and requirements. To quench the thirst for information, users adopt numerous ways and means to access the various channels of information. Research on the study of information needs and information gathering habits of a particular community will assist an information center more effectively in developing programmes and making optimum use of resources. The studies on the information needs of a particular institution user groups are aimed at improving the performance of an institution information system, so as to provide the better information services. Information seeking behaviour studies are potentially useful in bridging the gap between the kind of information services needed, the kind of information which exists, and how information services should be used. Studies reported in the review of literature reveal that different types of user populations used different study techniques depending on the subject. This study is an attempt to understand the user needs and information seeking behaviour of the faculty of Sri Sarada College for Women in Salem.

An evaluative study on the open source digital library softwares for institutional repository: Special reference to Dspace and greenstone digital library

Abstract
The Dspace and Greenstone Digital Library Software have helped spread the practical impact of digital library technology throughout the world, with particular emphasis on developing countries. As Dspace and Greenstone enters its second decade, this article takes a retrospective look at its development, the challenges that have been faced, and the lessons that have been learned in developing and deploying a comprehensive open-source system for the construction of digital libraries internationally. Open source digital library packages are gaining popularity nowadays. To build a digital library under economical conditions open source software is preferable. This paper tries to identify the extent of adoption of open source digital library software packages in various organizations through an online survey. In this paper an on line survey has been done to find out the usability of these open source digital library software. It lays down the findings from the survey. In this paper also try to compare with the features of this popular OSS digital library software.

Quality awareness of online information resources: A study

Abstract
Internet and online resources provide access to a variety of information ranging from primary to tertiary sources. However, the authenticity and value of the online information mainly remains questionable. Therefore, quality awareness among the users is necessary for the value-added information and research. Moreover, accessibility, format, style, and arrangement of the online information resources are different from the conventional sources. Hence, users are expected to adopt different approach to access and use the online sources. This paper aims, is to study the online information seeking and using behaviour of the library users. The study reveals the quality consciousness regarding the online information resources among the library users who use the Internet.

Abstract
In this information age, libraries are now coming to be known more as Knowledge resource centers or Digital information centers. Gone are the days where Library meant only rows and rows of books now it means an Information center with access to different media available. The hardcopy books are being complimented with e-Journals and e-Books which are now being implemented at most libraries in UAE and across the globe. This study examines the need and necessity of electronic collections at University libraries and its impact on Management graduates. It also identifies the level of awareness among the graduates and their usage pattern on using digital information.

Use of internet and e-resources by the students of business management: A survey of P. G. students of business administration, Sambalpur University, India

Abstract
In recent years, Internet and electronic resources have become most popular sources of information for the researchers, scholars, teachers, professionals and students. The present study was designed to find out the necessity and usage of Internet and e-resources by the students undertaking the master’s course in Business Administration, in Sambalpur University, Orissa, India. A structured questionnaire was monitored among 120 MBA students, out of which 91 (75.83%) responded to this survey. The present investigation gives an indication of the range of uses of internet and e-resources by MBA students. The investigation result shows that majority of the students (1/3 of them) have a long experience of using Internet for 2 - 4 years and all are more or less aware of the applications of Internet technology. More than half of the students surveyed in the study strongly feel that management study will be severely affected with out the use of internet and e-resources.

Health magazines and college girls

Abstract
Health magazines are read by over 55% women in India although potentially these magazines represent a major source of health education and information for women, relatively little attention has been paid to assessing this role. Ability, Alive, Healthy Childcare, Lifestyle are good magazines for women. This study focuses on the coverage given by four of the most popular women's magazines to a major cause of mortality and morbidity among college girls. From a content analysis of their 50 issues, the study was design to achieve major objectives. The data were collected from 100 students and main conclusions were drawn. It is suggested that health professionals could play an important role in implementing these recommendations.
