Abstract

Although the newly joining university teachers are coming with some prior knowledge and expertise in digital literacy, the existing lots of university academicians have to begin from the scratch, that is, they need a paradigm-shift from ‘teacher-to-eTeacher’ to survive and keep the pace with the new environments. This story is very true in the developing countries like Pakistan where computer literacy has just started taking grounds in Higher Education Institutions (HEI). The purpose of this paper is to juxtapose the facts and figures from literature with a view to constructing a ‘theoretical-framework’ that could be empirically tested in the future research. The emerging model suggests that departure from traditional teaching to modern digital eTeaching is intervened by a critical role of teachers’ digital-literacy.

Key words: Higher education institution, information and communication technologies, eLearning, eTeacher, digital-literacy.

Abstract

Limited research in Egypt explores the effects of human resource management on overall organizational performance. Furthermore, very limited research, if any, exist in Egypt to explore the effects recruitment function has on creating competitive advantage for organizations because organizations continuously need to both efficiently and effectively search for qualified candidates when they either plan for new business activities or expand on existing ones. Traditionally, the recruitment function was performed internally inside organizations. Nevertheless, another alternative method to that is outsourcing the recruitment function to specialized firms responsible to create a large pool of qualified candidates that are both able and willing to perform the required job. This study is both descriptive and exploratory which address the reasons behind organizations refrain from outsourcing its recruitment function. A survey conducted on a sample of 36 top managers from Egyptian and Non-Egyptian companies operating in various fields in Egypt discovered that 55% of these companies were involved in recruitment outsourcing. A contrary to logic result found that the cost reduction factor was not perceived by Egyptian managers as a valuable reason to outsource their recruitment function.

Key words: Egypt, human resource management, organizational performance, competitive advantage, recruitment function, outsourcing.

Abstract

In this article, we deal with the effects of company accounting variable on optimal return of Portfolio in the stock exchange market of Tehran which contains industry stocks of selected petroleum products, car industry and manufacturing, electrical machineries and extracting of metallic minerals. First, creation and estimation of conditional covariance matrix of variable time is investigated based on dissimilar models of multivariate variance, then based on portfolio Markowitz theory, effects of accounting variables were investigated with the approach of minimizing the risk of portfolio and finally optimal weights of chosen four industries in the specified time were studied. Optimization results indicate that in all three mentioned models more weight in portfolio is proportioned to industries in which there is less fluctuation in the industry stocks return. Also, optimal weight during the time was reducing for industries which their efficiency had an increase and on the opposite in spite of decrease of fluctuations in efficiency and during the time optimization portion of portfolio has increased which originates from the changes made in accounting variables containing book value, return assets, assets turnover, operation cash flow share and earnings per share.

Key words: Accounting variables, Marcowitz portfolio theory, Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity (GARCH) multivariate models, covariance matrix of variable time.

Abstract

The existing Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) approaches have been studied and analyzed in order to identify the main theoretical perspectives or models that are usually applied to SHRM. The investigation of the literature starts with the identification of such popular SHRM perspectives as the universalistic perspective, the contingency perspective, the configurational perspective, and the contextual perspective. Both the traditional and recent studies were examined in order to assert the main concepts of the models and to compare the approaches in relation to their effectiveness when used in the context of discussing HRM practices implemented in the public sector of Qatar in 2009. The literature on the configurational approach was discussed with particular attention, as this approach is usually selected by researchers in order to discuss the effectiveness of the HRM practices’ implementation and is often chosen to work with quantitative data. This study will cover the details of different SHRM perspectives, the comparison of the approaches, the advantages of the configurational approach, the appropriateness of using the configurational approach while working with quantitative data, and the aspects of using the configurational approach in different contexts.

Key words: Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM), SHRM approaches/models/perspectives, universalistic perspective/approach, contingency perspective/approach, configurational perspective/approach, contextual perspective/approach.

Abstract

This research has a practical purpose and is a descriptive retrospective study conducted over a period from 2000 to 2011. The main purpose of the current study is to measure the productivity of selected industries and companies listed in the companies in Golestan Province of Iran. Company performance can be assessed in two different ways. One way is to take into account company productivity, and the other way is to evaluate companies based on their annual accounting reports extracted from company financial information (Kitaeva, 2003). According to the experiences gained in industrial countries, having an implementation of a proper evaluating system of productivity and even without any changes can increase productivity by 5 to 10% (Mahboubi, 2003). From the results which show the significance test for the hypothesis of the coefficients of R, it is clear that the level of statistic significance (Sig), error rate test for independent variables is 5%.

Key words: Productivity, total factors productivity (TFP), strategic, Golestan Province.

Abstract

This paper throws light on some burning issues of coal mining sector in contemporary West Bengal. Expansion of coal mining to a large scale is required and it presents enormous challenges not only in ensuring safe and efficient resource extraction techniques, pollution control and road/rail infrastructure development, but most importantly making the coal sector responsive to emerging social issues related to mining. Enormous challenges in this regard include transparent and responsible community consultation, involvement and participatory development, responsible resettlement and rehabilitation of mine-affected populations, and reassessment of several Government regulations, policies and legal instruments relating to land acquisition and mine operations. Beside land accusation factor entire coal mining sector is now facing some problems related to internal human resource management. This paper aims to focus particularly on some underlying issues relating to human resource on one side and society’s reaction against land acquisition on the other.

Key words: bank Loan, exploitation, dilemma, displacement, fundamental rights, human rights, indebtedness, social justice.
