Abstract

This paper considers the application of the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity process in the estimation of volatility in the Kenyan exchange rates. A quasi-maximum likelihood estimation procedure was used and asymptotic properties of the estimators were given. Exploratory data analysis performed indicated that the returns are heavy tailed. It was found that the estimated model fits the exchange rates return data well.

Abstract

In this research, the impact of applying TOC in MRP systems was studied using a case study. First the theories of TOC and MRP and their integration histories were reviewed. The research methodology was devised using library and field studies. The proposed method was applied to Tabriz Diecast Aluminum Casing and Bending Company. The company’s organizational documents were used in studying the impact on company operations. The collected documents and information were thoroughly evaluated and analyzed to obtain the final results of using TOC in MRP production systems as presented in this paper. In today’s economy, cost reduction and increased production output and quality are regarded as top priorities for survival and competition as they can guarantee the success of a company in the long run.

Abstract

In view of unreasonable oil price fluctuations, this paper reviews past researches to propose a SEEDS framework to analyze the forces that influence oil price fluctuations. The SEEDS framework discusses oil price fluctuations from the supply side, environmental protection side, economic side, demand side and substitute side. According to SEEDS, we believe the rapid increase in oil price is not good for both net oil exporters and net oil importers. Of course, nobody doubts that crude oil reserves are limited. We also believe that oil prices would continuously increase, but not double or triple within one year. The global economy cannot endure sharp increase in manufacturing costs and product prices. This would reduce consumption and production at the same time, followed shortly by financial market crisis. Recognizing the symbiosis of net oil exporters and net oil importers is very important; we believe that this framework will help people understand that rapid increases in oil price are dangerous to world economics. The SEEDS framework can also be applied to analyze the price fluctuations of bulk commodities.

Key words: SEEDS, oil price, price fluctuation.

Abstract

Real estate investment trusts (REITs) are regarded as defensive assets with low risk and returns in the real world. The dynamic conditional correlations bivariate threshold GARCH (DCC-TGARCH) model is employed to test for the defensive property of REITs. The data are collected at daily intervals covering the time period from January 3, 2005 to December 31, 2009. Evidence indicates that, the betas work asymmetrically in the up and down markets as well as that the systematic risk of REITs is lower in the down market. In other words, the four types of REITs act as defensive stocks in the time period under discussion in the sense that REITs have lower downside betas when the market declines.

Key words: REITs, defensive, DCC-TGARCH, beta.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine classroom teacher candidates’ self-leadership behaviour. The survey method is used in this research. The population of the research consisted of 272 senior students studying at the faculties of education at primary classroom teaching departments at four universities (Agrı Ibrahim Cecen University, Cumhuriyet University, Firat University and Kilis 7 Aralık University) in Turkey. The sample of the research has randomly been chosen and consisted of 262 (83%) students. Statistically a meaningful difference at the 0.05 level is found when distributing the collected data about self-award and cueing, the sub-dimensions of the measure, to universities. The self-leadership behaviour has kept steady at the level of “Generally” and should be advanced to the level of “Always”.

Key words: Self-seadership, self-leadership behaviour, classroom teacher candidates.
