Establishment of pointers for early cautioning system on tilapia exchange

Abstract
With the development of fisheries and aquaculture, tilapia has become one of the closest species of aquatic products in contact with the international market. There are many factors which affect tilapia international trade. These factors are ultimately reflected in the volume and price of tilapia trade. In order to ensure the sustainable development of tilapia international trade, early warning system will play an integral role in forecasting the trade trends. Besides,the indicators system is the foundation to establishing early warning system. This paper summarizes different system indicators for early warning on tilapia import and export. As our case study, we selected 2 indicators, total export value and policy factor as warning situation's indicator. The total export value depends on export volume and price growth rate as warning promise index. The safety warning coefficient R, alarm limits, and the scope of the R reflect the different level of tilapia culture, analysis and prediction of changes in tilapia trading system. The indicators established in this study will give an insight to farmers, importers, and exporters as well as would be investors on the trend and dynamics involved in tilapia production and trading system.

Population hereditary structure of coral reef species Plectorhinchus flavomaculatus in South China Sea

Abstract
The population genetic structure and the dispersal ability of PLECTORHINCHUS FLAVOMACULATUS from South China Sea were examined with a 464 bp segment of mtDNA control region. A total of 116 individuals were collected from 12 coral reefs in Xisha, Zhongsha and Nansha archipelagos and 22 haplotypes were obtained. Two lineages were detected, which might have diverged in different glacial refuge during Pleistocene low sea levels. Contrary to homogenization expectation, AMOVA and pairwise FST revealed significant genetic structure between Nansha and other two archipelagos (Xisha and Zhongsha). Pattern of isolation by distance was observed in this species, suggesting that mean dispersal distance of P. FLAVOMACULATUS is no more than 300 km. The different environment in glacial ages may cause the different pattern of population demography in lineages (stable model in lineage A and sudden expansion model in lineage B).

Distinguishing proof of the S-genotypes of a few sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) cultivars by AS-PCR and fertilization

Abstract
Sweet cherry cultivars display a self-incompatibility system that restricts self-fertilization and fertilization between cultivars bearing identical S-alleles. PCR-based S-allele typing system for sweet cherry cultivars has been recently developed. It has been reported that all known self-incompatibility (S) alleles of sweet cherry were more than 16 based on the AS-PCR analysis. In this work, two sets of AS-PCR primers that were designed based on conserved domains of cDNA sequences of S-RNases has been used to characterize the S-genotype of 38 sweet cherry cultivars, including 15 cultivars whose S-genotype had not been previously described. Pollination test was also performed to validate the PCR results, and the consistent results were got. A wide variation in the frequency of S-alleles in the Sweet cherry germplasm was observed. S3 was the most common in the cultivars evaluated, and S7, S10-S16, S23-S25 as rare allele was not found in China geographical areas in our study.

Abstract
Immunomodulator is a substance which stimulates or suppresses the components of immune system including both innate and adaptive immune responses (Agarwal and Singh, 1969). The modulation of immune system by various medicinal plant products has become a subject for scientific investigations currently worldwide. Keeping this in view, the present article has been constructed to highlight the importance of herbal extracts and cow urine distillate as potent immunomodulators for livestock.

Aeromonas veronii disease in the refined snakehead fish, Ophiocephalus argus (Cantor)

Abstract
Aeromonas veronii has been identified as a causative agent of fish and human disease outbreaks. However, there is no definitive data on A. veronii infection in cultured snakehead fish Ophiocephalus argus (Cantor). In this study, a virulent strain S-L was isolated from the farmed snakehead fish suffering from epizootic ulcerative syndrome, and identified as an A. veronii strain using ARIS 2X system. Its taxonomic position was further determined through nucleotide blast search in NCBI website and phylogenetic analysis. The constructed phylogenetic tree using neighbor-joining method further showed that the S-L isolate was the A. veronii strain (GenBank accession no. JQ301790), which was also previously isolated from diseased freshwater fish. In addition, five genes encoding aerolysin, haemolysin, serine protease and two cytotonic enterotoxins were all found present in the S-L isolate which further confirmed its potential virulence. As far as we know, this is the first report of farmed snakehead fish infected with A. veronii.

Quality and adequacy of duck patties stored at ambient and refrigeration temperature

Abstract
Effect of storage periods at ambient and refrigeration temperature on duck patties was studied. pH of duck patties significantly increased (P < 0.01) at ambient temperature and decreased (P < 0.01) at refrigeration temperature. TBA and Tyrosine values increased significantly (P < 0.01) with increased storage period at both temperatures. A higher rate of increase in TBA values occurred at ambient temperature than refrigeration temperature. There was no significant difference in proximate composition except moisture content on different storage periods at both temperatures. TVC and TPSC values increased significantly (P < 0.01) with increase in storage period at both temperatures. A significant decrease in scores of organoleptic evaluation occurred with increase in storage period at both temperatures. A higher rate of decrease in sensory scores occurred at ambient temperature than that of refrigeration temperature. A significant correlation of physico-chemical changes with acceptability of duck patties was noticed. So, duck patties were acceptable upto 7 days at refrigeration temperature.
